- Synergy
- Great for using a single mouse and keyboard across multiple systems. I used to have my laptop set up on my desk next to my dual-screen desktop, so being able to rapidly switch between them without having to move my hands (and without having to use an oh-so-antiquated KVM switch) is great. Works across most OSes, and even syncs up the clipboard, so text that you copy on one computer is available on the other. If only you could "throw" application windows between computers...that'd be freaking awesome.
- TouchMouse
- From Logitech, this application comes in two parts - a "server" for your desktop/laptop, and a "client" for your iPhone. With a pretty easy installation and setup, the iPhone app will connect to your wireless network, look for TouchMouse servers, and allows you to select a computer to connect to. From there, you're presented with a touch screen that will move your mouse, and you can pop-up a keyboard and type. I think the original concept behind this was for like a WebTV or connecting your computer to your TV. Still, pretty amazing, and very easy to set up. Might be useful when we watch movies on the computer, so we sit farther away, but don't have wireless mouse/keyboard, etc.
- SweetHome3D
- Haven't had a chance to actually try this out yet, but I know it would come in handy. I used to rearrange my room every few months when I was a kid, just for fun, and occasionally a layout in my head just wouldn't work in real life. Eventually I measured everything and drew a floor plan in Microsoft Word, which worked, but I know I really could have used this. Oh well.
Tried any good software recently? Let me know any recommendations!
